Meeting Notes 7/2/08

A big thanks to Keith for our beautiful Opening! We had a powerful group of willing workers in attendance. Best wishes go out to Mary, who was hospitalized with pneumonia. Trust you are healing in Perfection! (You may note that the minutes from June and July have many similarities, as there has not been too much time between my reporting the minutes from these two meetings. Thanks for your patience!)

Reports on projects and happenings:

  • Please add photos, notes or HHOT additions to our HHOT Scrapbook as you take/have them! Mc Bill has a little photo album of the photos from the Book Sale. Check it out on the HHOT table! Also, if you receive notes or letters regarding our projects, please add them to our book.
  • Thanks to Keith for delivering Personal Care Items and Containers to Project Share ! They, as always, are delighted to receive the items! Dianne offered to check the containers in July and August and deliver as needed. Thanks Dianne!
  • Thanks Ross for keeping the HHOT section of the ACSL Website current. We'd like to keep it as update as possible, so that future Ministerial candidates can check us out as they look into our congregation. Thanks, too, to Kenneth Winfrey for his wonderful coverage on the e-mail events page as well!
  • Louise and Pat gave a final report on the HHOT Used Book Sale this year, which was held June 8 th ! We made right at $700! HHOT tithed 10% to the general fund, the ACSL proceeds going to the Foundations Class scholarship fund and half went to HDCSL. Pat Kenney sold hot dog meals and made some money for the garden. This is an event which takes all of us. Thanks so very much to each of you for your generous contributions of books, materials, time and Love! You are the best!
  • We also reported on the serving opportunity at Project Share on Monday, June 16 th . This was an enriching experience! We discussed possibilities for the future at the July meeting and decided to set up a date to serve once a month for the remainder of 2008, which we will open up to the congregation. Keith and I spoke with the new director, Lori Dow and got the following dates to serve: Mon., Sept. 22 nd , Fri., Oct. 24 th , Tues, Nov. 11 th , and Mon., Dec. 1 st . Dianne will get the first announcement into the bulletin in Sept. and we will begin sign-ups later that month. This should be a wonderful opportunity for our congregation!
  • Keith reported on the Workday with Albuquerque Home Chores. The date was Saturday, June 21 st . We had 12 people show up to work at Mr. Rupert Tafoya's home. We hauled, we cleaned, we raked, we bagged, we painted, we laughed and we served! It was a wonderful opportunity to Serve! Thanks for setting this up Keith and to each of you who helped out!
  • Thanks a ton to Dianne who willingly attended the New Member Reception on June 21 st to share about HHOT. She was a wonderful representative for HHOT and now others know who we are and what we do. The more the word spreads, the more we have others join in!

Updates on projects and ideas in process:

  • Berta contacted me regarding the desire to have HHOT hold a School Supply Drive . Gracie Alvarez also contacted me saying that she would like the Youth to join HHOT for a School Supply Drive . So…we got right on it and will be collecting supplies July 13 th , 20 th and 27 th ! If you can help, please bring supplies and contact Berta if you can help collect them on one of those Sundays. How exciting to join in this wonderful project with Youth Ed! Thanks Berta and Gracie for initiating this and co-chairing it as well!
  • Mary is continuing to work on details regarding the Collection for Peanut Butter and Jelly's School Based Health Clinic. We have set the dates for August 17 th and 24 th . Mary will clear these dates and get them on the ACSL calendar. PB & J is working up a “needs list,” which we will distribute in some form to the congregation. Mary will be in touch regarding her needs to carry out this new event. Thanks Mary for getting this going!
  • It looks like the Dog and Cat Days of Autumn is a go! Ross will chair this event . He will get it on the calendar for October 12 th and 19 th . We'll be looking at some details at a future meeting. Thanks Ross!
  • I talked with my artist friend, and we have the perfect gift for Rev. Patrick and Sue from our Team! Dianne has it and a card. If you'd like a peek or would like to sign the card, please let her know. The gift will be presented by the team at the party for Rev. Patrick. Check with Dianne for details.
  • We have a couple of future dates you can note on your calendars:

Food Drive – Sept. 7 th and 14 th

JDRF Walk – Sat., Nov. 1

  • We will discuss the possibility of HHOT ACSL tee-shirts in the fall. Be thinking about this, please.
  • A HUGE thank you to Louise for her willingness to be the HHOT “facilitator” for the summer while Keith and I are away! If anything comes up re. HHOT in July or August, please contact Louise.

Thanks to Louise for her warm and giving-Spirited Closing!

Please mark your calendars and note the change of day : Our next meeting is scheduled for Wed., Sept. 10th , at 7:00PM at ACSL. Room number will be posted on the events board.

Have a HHOT summer!! See you in September!

Love and Namaste,

Pat
